State Senator Seth Lewis (R-Bartlett) and State Representative Amy Grant (R-Wheaton) are inviting their constituents to safely dispose of old bank records, receipts, and other sensitive documents at a free document shredding event that will be held in Carol Stream on Saturday, August 15, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. The shred truck will be on-site until noon or until it is full.

Non-perishable food items and toiletries will also be collected and donated to the Wayne Township Food Pantry.

Participants are asked to follow traffic signs and remain in their vehicles. Shred truck staff will unload cars, and parking will be available for those who wish to see their documents fed into the shredder. While paper folders, staples, and paper clips can be fed into the shredder, large binder clips, plastic file folders, and old floppy discs cannot. Additionally, no electronics will be accepted for recycling or disposal.

“It’s always rewarding to offer services that make life a little easier for the people we represent,” said Lewis. “This event gives families a convenient way to clean out old files, securely dispose of sensitive paperwork, and at the same time help stock the shelves of the Wayne Township Food Pantry. I encourage everyone to stop by and take advantage of this free community event.”

For additional information on this event, constituents can call Senator Lewis’ office at (630) 349-0645 or email Abby at amccarthy@sgop.ilga.gov.
