ILLINOIS STATE SENATOR
24TH DISTRICT

Senator Seth Lewis, Rep. Amy Grant to Host ICASH Unclaimed Property Event in Warrenville

Over the past few years, the office of State Senator Seth Lewis (R-Bartlett) has helped residents of the 24th District recover millions of dollars in unclaimed property and other financial assets. On Wednesday, August 5, Lewis will partner with State Representative Amy Grant (R-Wheaton) and the Illinois Treasurer’s Office to host an Unclaimed Property Event in Warrenville, giving residents a free, convenient opportunity to search the state database and discover assets waiting to be claimed.

From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., residents can meet one-on-one with a counselor from the Treasurer’s Office at the Warrenville Park District building to search for unclaimed property, learn about the claims process, and receive assistance filing claims.

“Every year, millions of dollars in unclaimed property are returned to Illinois residents, but there are still countless individuals who don’t realize they may have money waiting to be claimed,” said Lewis. “These events provide a convenient opportunity for people to check for forgotten assets and reconnect with funds that rightfully belong to them.”

The Illinois Treasurer’s Office currently holds more than $5 billion in unclaimed property, including dormant bank accounts, insurance payments, utility deposits, stock dividends, and other assets that have been turned over to the state after periods of inactivity.

“It’s always worth taking a few minutes to see if the Treasurer’s Office is holding unclaimed property in your name,” Lewis added. “Whether it’s from an old bank account, an uncashed check, an insurance payment, or another source, recovering those funds can make a real difference. We’re pleased to help make that process more accessible for the people we serve.”
