State Senator Seth Lewis (R-Bartlett) announced that $182.88 million in state funding has been secured for critical road and bridge improvements across the 24th Senate District in DuPage and Suburban Cook Counties. The investment, which supports both state and local highway projects, is part of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) Multi-Year Program.
“This is a transformative investment in this region’s infrastructure,” said Lewis. “Every community in the 24th District will benefit from these projects, whether through safer intersections, smoother commutes, or better connectivity between towns. I am thrilled to see this level of investment coming to the 24th District.”
Statewide, IDOT plans to invest $50.6 billion between 2026 and 2031. Of that total, $166.875 million is allocated for state highway projects within the 24th District, with another $15.978 million dedicated to local highway improvements.
“These improvements are about more than roads and bridges,” Lewis added. “They represent jobs, economic growth, and a renewed commitment to maintaining safe and efficient roads for families and businesses. When we invest in infrastructure, we invest in the future of our communities.”
Over the next six years, 31 projects across the 24th District will receive funding, including seven that will receive funding in 2026. State highway improvements will take place along Interstate 290, IL Route 53, the Eisenhower Expressway, US Route 20, US Route 34, IL Route 38, IL Route 56, IL Route 59, and IL Route 64. Local roadway projects are planned in the communities of Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Itasca, Wheaton, Winfield, and Wood Dale.
