State Senator Seth Lewis (R-Bartlett) announced today that several communities and a forest preserve in the 24th Senate District are receiving Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) grants totaling $10,010,910.
A total of 66 projects statewide will receive ITEP grant funding to enhance community bike and pedestrian paths and trails, sidewalks, streetscape beautification, and other community improvement projects.
“I am always pleased when state dollars come back to the 24th District,” said Lewis. “These funds will be put to good use as several local communities engage in beautification projects.”
Specifically, grants coming to the 24th District include the following:
- City of Warrenville: Construction of a 10-foot wide multi-use path and a 5-foot wide sidewalk along the east and west sides of IL Route 59, $3,000,000
- Elk Grove Village: Tonne Road – Construction of an 8-foot wide path for pedestrian and bicyclist use from north of Deven Avenue to Clearmont Drive, $1,475,775
- Elk Grove Village: Tonne Road – Construction of a 1.55-mile path for pedestrian and bicyclist use within the center median; street and pedestrian lighting, sidewalk, and enhanced landscaping, $1,475,775
- Village of Roselle: Irving Park Road (IL Route 19) corridor enhancements, including a 1.7-mile on and off-street bike path, pedestrian improvements at multiple intersections, streetscape beautification, and pedestrian lighting, from the western village limit to the eastern village limit, $2,999,360
- Forest Preserve District of DuPage County: Cenacle Bridge Replacement in Blackwell Forest Preserve, over the west branch of the DuPage River in Warrenville, $1,060,000
According to Lewis, 233 ITEP applications were received this year, and the funding total for all 66 projects stands at $139.2 million.
