“When we invest in books and technology at our school libraries, we are providing a springboard to knowledge and success for students,” said Lewis. “I appreciate the Secretary of State’s willingness to continually bring meaningful financial support to our school libraries.”
The resources and services provided by the grants include library books, e-books, audiobooks, periodicals, multilingual materials, technology and programs. School districts received $0.885 per student, based on the statutory formula decided by the General Assembly.
When awarding the grants, Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias said, “Illinois students deserve to have access to quality library resources, including learning materials, books and online services at our public schools. Libraries serve as places of knowledge, learning and discovery and this funding will help equip them to educate and inspire our future generations.”
