Senator Seth Lewis Invites Families to Honor Their Veteran Loved Ones in Illinois Capitol Rotunda Display

State Senator Seth Lewis is calling on families across the 24th Senate District to help fill the Illinois Capitol Rotunda with the names, faces, and stories of military heroes. In honor of Veterans Day, the “Honoring All Who Served” Veterans Day Display will feature photos and personal stories of Illinois veterans in the Rotunda from Tuesday, October 28 through Thursday, November 13.

“The ‘Honoring All Who Served’ display is a powerful tribute to the brave men and women who defended our country and everything it stands for,” said Lewis. “When you share your veteran’s photo and story, you ensure their sacrifice is seen, remembered, and appreciated by thousands of visitors to the State Capitol. This project ensures the legacies of our loved ones who have served endure.”

How to Participate

Families are encouraged to submit a photo and a brief written story (up to 250 words) about their veteran. Please include the veteran’s namemilitary branch (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, National Guard, Navy), and the conflict served (Afghanistan, Iraq, September 11, Gulf War, Vietnam, Korea, WWII, WWI, Peacetime, or other). Military photos are especially meaningful but not required.
