Senator Lewis and Representative Sanalitro to Host Free Document Shredding Event in Carol Stream

On Saturday, July 22, State Senator Seth Lewis and State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro are partnering for a free document shredding event at Bierman Park in Carol Stream. A shred truck will be on site in the park’s parking lot, located at 1253 Woodlake Drive, from 1:30-3:30 PM, and documents will be accepted during that time, or until the truck is full.

“The shred truck provides residents with a safe and secure way to dispose of sensitive documents like old bank statements, tax documents, and receipts,” said Lewis.  “I think we all have items in our file cabinets that are in need of disposal, so I invite all residents of the 24th Senate District to drop off their sensitive paper documents at this free event.”

Participants are asked to follow traffic signs and remain in their vehicles. Shred truck staff will unload cars. Parking will be available for those who wish to see their documents fed into the shredder.

“This is a perfect opportunity for community members to safely and securely dispose of sensitive documents and paperwork,” added Sanalitro. “I am happy to bring this service to the district and I hope the community finds it valuable”

While paper folders, staples and paper clips can be fed into the shredder, large binder clips, plastic file folders, and old floppy discs cannot. Additionally, no electronics will be accepted for recycling or disposal.
